June 30, 2010

I know that it has been a while since Miriam has updated her blog, but this past month has been another season of waiting for her. Her oncologist, Dr. Klimo, continues to recommend that Miriam begin chemotherapy as soon as possible, but there has been ongoing discussion with the extended health company regarding coverage of the treatment. It appears now though that this process is close to an end, and at her appointment with him just yesterday, he indicated that he was beginning to move ahead with preparations.

I know that Miriam has continued to appreciate all of your prayers and contact over these past weeks. God is giving her courage in the midst of an unknown future. She so appreciated her brother Brien's visit this past week, and is looking forward to her other brother Allen and his wife Suzanne arriving on July 1st.

Dear Mom once again shared spiritual insight and encouragement with us today. A verse she gave Miriam and the rest of us is from Job 5:18, "He bruises, but He binds up; He wounds, but His hands make whole."

We will let you know more specific information as soon as we can. Thanks again for all of your prayers and support.

June 6, 2010

Hello dear ones,
Thought I would bring you up to 'speed' on what is happening.....I'm waiting.  The chemotherapy that Dr. Klimo has recommended is not covered through the B.C. Cancer Agency so I need my extended health to cover it.  I would love it if you prayed with me so I will hear soon and we can begin treatment.  It would be great to hear from the radiation oncologist as well for the rest of the radiation treatments.

I have become such a "Streams in the Desert" fan.  So let me share some nuggets from the recent readings...

June 4 - "All that night the Lord drove the sea back." (Exodus 14:21)  In this verse there is a comforting message showing how God works during darkness....there may be a great work occurring in your life when things seems the darkest.  You may see no evidence yet, but God is at work....God works through the night until the morning light dawns."

June 5 - "We must continue to pray and "wait for the Lord" (Isa. 8:17) until we hear the sound of His mighty rain.  There is no reason why we should not ask for great things.  Without a doubt, we will receive them if we ask in faith, having the courage to wait with patient perseverance for Him and meanwhile doing those things that are within our power to do....Can't  the same great wonders be done today that were done many years ago?  Where is the God of Elijah?  He is waiting for today's Elijah to call on Him....A simple prayer from our mouths will be powerful enough to call down from heaven God's gracious dew or the melting fire of His Spirit, just as the words from Elijah's mouth called down literal rain and fire.  All that is required is to speak the words with the same complete assurance of faith which he spoke."

I am encouraged after reading these words!!  He is at work - even through these quiet days.

Appreciating so much your perseverance in prayer for me.
