August 23, 2010

Hello family and friends,
I have once again been carried on the wings of prayer.  My chemo day went very well with no unpleasant side effects.  Friends, Sandy and Doreen, were with me for the day.  Bless them!!  I had an appointment to meet with the oncologist as well.  We always review the blood work and today we followed up on the bone scan.  The blood work was good, showing that the chemo is working.  The scan indicated a new inconclusive spot and Dr. Klimo will follow up after this round of chemo treatments. He did not see any hot spots in my right leg.
My sister, Marylynne, sent me a wonderful quote today:  "Let us move forth today , not knowing or seeing, but trusting."  (from Streams in the Desert)
This is what we will continue to do - trust the Lord!
Thanks again for your love and prayers.

August 21, 2010

A warm hello to you all!  I cannot believe how quickly these past 3 weeks have gone.  Your faithfulness in prayer and support is so evident as I have again felt so well since the last treatment.  God is 'carrying and covering' me.  I love Psalm 91.  How blessed am I to have had extended stays with family and friends.
Yes, there have been those mornings.....moments where I have prayed, "Lord, in my weakness, You are strong..." and He is doing just that - giving strength for the day!  God is also helping me so much to keep the 'enemy' at bay.  He has not given us the spirit of fear but of peace.  This verse continues to be a prayer of mine - "The God of Hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
So Monday, the 23rd, will find me going for treatment #3.  I will also be hearing the report from a bone scan.  I will continue to trust Him.
Thanks again for being an alongside-one in this journey!!  In addition to the promise of His presence with me, I feel you're part of the army of prayer. :)
Love, Miriam

August 4, 2010

My heart is full this morning. I had my second chemo treatment yesterday. "Sister" Sandy took me early in the morning, and Bryan and Ellen dropped by while I was having my treatment ... Encouragement through the whole day ... many emails, phone calls, texts, and even a pot of yellow mums sitting on my door step. Many expressions of love, even to offers for accompanying me to my next chemo, scheduled for August 23. Of course Mom, my brothers, and Marylynne are always close by. Ruth is staying with me for a few days, and tonight we will be having a nice family summer dinner on my deck. Beyond all of this is the hope and assurance of God's presence and help every moment of my day. He is good all the time. Thanks so much for your prayers and continued encouragement.

Hello dear friends and family,

Not only does today mark the beginning of a new week, it also means that the summer is half over.  It's been a couple of weeks since I've been in touch with you, so am wanting to bring you up to date.  I have enjoyed some wonderful days of sun and strength.  Thank you so much for your prayers through these days.
This past week has been very hard as I have lost my hair.  God has given courage each day and I thank Him for the love that surrounded me.  Hats have become an integral part of my wardrobe.  I was so thankful to have the elders come and pray for me.  What an uplifting time of prayer and reflection.
I am looking ahead to my 2nd chemo treatment on Tuesday.  I am confident of your prayers for that day and the following days.
Love and blessings, Miriam
