April 12, 2010

On behalf of my dear sister Miriam, and the rest of our family we continue to covet your prayers.  This has been a hard day as Miriam received the report of her surgery.  It was difficult to fully absorb the report from the Dr. over the phone, but due to the degree of involvement of the cancer further treatments are going to be necessary.  The Dr. indicated the treatment would be "aggressive" and commencing soon (within the next 3 weeks).  The team of oncologists will be meeting Tuesday during the day to discuss her case, and will respond to Miriam that evening with the suggested course of treatment.

Miriam faced this news with courage and she challenged us, her family, to allow this to strengthen our faith in a deeper way.  She continues to draw such strength from the picture of God fighting this battle for her, and the army of believers who are praying her through.  Thank you to each one of you who is bringing her before the Lord for fresh courage and strength.    She could not possbily face these uncertain days without the Lord and the prayers of others.

My Mom took us to the Psalms right away, and Psalm 18 is such a favorite these days, among many others.  Verse 6 says,"In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears."

Thanks again for your continued support and prayers.

  1. Dearest Miriam,
I am so thankful to God that you made it through your surgery with no complications.I also thank God for the strength He has given you through this ordeal, and I know He will continue to clothe you with strength.

Miriam, since I have met you at BSF, you are such a bright light with God's love shining through you. It has been a "joy" getting to know you and we all miss you.

This morning I was looking through the Psalms and found this for you: Ps. 103:1-5; you may already have this in your wonderful library of verses you have received from many.

God be with you; let me know if there is anything I can do.
Your sister in Christ, Brenda Townsend
